Overhang Requirements:

No limit to front and technically no limit for the rear. However, if load is 48? or more in the rear, red flags are required during the day and lights are required at night.

Permits Valid For:

Single Trip Permits are valid for the amount of time it takes to complete one (1) trip.  There is no limit on the number of days allowed.

Operating Time

Permitted loads are allowed travel from one-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset.  Loads that are up to and including 10' wide may travel at night on Interstate highways only, providing that its length and height are legal dimensions, and that the hauling vehicle is properly signed and lighted for over-sized travel.

Weekend Travel

Permitted loads are allowed travel from Sunrise to Sunset on Saturdays and Sundays.

Divisible Loads

Loads must be reduced, dismantled or divided as much as possible when over-weight and over-sized.  Over-size and over-weight permits are issued only for one piece loads.  When an over-size load includes two or more items being hauled along with a one piece oversized item which is permitted for its over-dimensions, the two or more pieces will be allowed so long as the entire load is being transported or hauled on the same trailer and their combined dimensions do not exceed the dimensions of, or change the configuration of the permitted portion of the load.

Exceptions

Blades, buckets, counterweights, etc. can remain attached as long as cargo is not over-weight.  Loads of heavy equipment (i.e. bulldozers with blades and rippers attached and cranes with counterweights and booms attached) loaded in configuration closely approximating operational configurations, shall generally not be considered readily divisible if axle weights do not exceed the class B/C limits.  Furthermore, loads of heavy equipment that meet these criteria, but have been partially dismantled and rearranged to achieve safer highway configurations, may also be allowed if the appropriate permit issuing authorities agree the highway safety has been enhanced by the re-arrangement.  Any over-weight loads that exceed the B/C class axle limits must be dismantled regardless of inconvenience.

Restricted Travel

Permit issuing authorities may restrict the movement of permitted loads to the daylight hours of minimum traffic volume.  Such hours may be stipulated as a condition of the move.  Travel can be restricted at times due to inclement weather.

Spring Weight Restrictions

There are no specific Seasonal Weight Restrictions for the State of Wyoming.  However, certain restrictions may be imposed if necessary.  If restrictions are imposed, updates will be posted to this States page.

Superload Requirements

Loads or vehicles that are 75' long x 15' wide x 15' high 150,000 lbs. or more are considered Super-loads.  Any load that exceeds 150,000 lbs. gross vehicle weight will require a review by the Permit Department.  Super-load permit applications should include the axle weight and spacing, overall dimensions of cargo, scale weights if possible, exact origin and destination, proposed route of travel, and a diagram/drawing of load.  If loads require a bridge or Route Survey, a charge of $50.00 per hour will be charged, and must be paid regardless of if the move takes place or not.

Super-load applications should be allowed up to three (3) weeks for processing and approval.
