Overhang Guidelines:

Auto transporters - 3' front, 4' rear. No other vehicle shall carry more than a total of 5' beyond rear and 10' to the front.

Police Escorts:

$45.00 per hour per Trooper, round trip - 4 hour minimum - $0.55 for gas per mile per car, round trip. $150.00 admin fee per load, with 3% credit card charge.

Permits Valid For:

Single Trip Permits are valid for five (5) consecutive days, and are valid for one round trip.

Operating Time

Permitted loads are allowed travel from one-half hour before Sunrise to one-half hour after Sunset

Weekend Travel

Permitted loads are allowed travel from one-half hour before Sunrise to one-half hour after Sunset on Saturdays. No Sunday travel allowed.

Divisible Loads

Permits will not be issued for divisible loads.  Anything that can be removed to reduce weight is required to be removed.  Bulldozer blades and similar construction equipment are exempt.


When a blade protrudes beyond the transporting vehicles width, bulldozers, front-end loaders and similar equipment shall be loaded with the rear of the machine facing the front.  Buckets, counter-weights, etc. must be removed and transported on a separate vehicle.

Restricted Travel

Loads that are 120' to 150' long are restricted from 9:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M. Monday through Friday. The Permitted vehicle or combination of vehicles and loads are restricted from travel in inclement weather such as snow, fog, or ice or any other time when there is not sufficient light to render clearly and discernible persons and vehicles on the highway at a distance of 500 ft.

Superload Requirements

Loads or vehicles that are 150' long x 16' wide x 16' high and 180,000 lbs or more are considered Super-loads.  In order for a Super-load permit to be considered, applicants must submit the following information:  Reasons why the cargo cannot be shipped by rail or barge, diagrams/drawings proving that cargo cannot be reduced in size and showing cargo's complete dimensions, and an axle weight and axle spacing diagram.  Applications for loads that are in excess of 16' wide & 16' high will require a detailed Route Survey locating all points of contact and means of avoiding such contact points.

Loads that are in excess of 17' high will require notification of Utility companies such as Power Company, Cable Company, Telephone Company, and Traffic Signal owners.  City or County Engineers notification will be required when shipping Super-loads on City, or County Roads.

Super-load applications should be allowed up to two (2) weeks for processing and approval.
