Height over 17' must provide letter from utility companies stating their knowledge of move and approval to disturb aerial lines across the route. If no aerial line exists, must have a statement that the entire route has been checked and no utilities are affected.

Overhang Requirements:

Maximum legal length is not to exceed 53' (fifty three feet), regardless if the
trailer is 48' (forty eight feet) or 53' (fifty three feet). Overhang exceeding these dimensions will require over length permits.

Police Escorts:

$31.00 per hour - $0.44 per mile - 3 officer minimum.

Permits Valid For:

Single Trip Permits are valid for fifteen (15) consecutive days.

Operating Time

Permitted loads are allowed to operate from one-half hour before Sunrise to one-half hour after Sunset, Monday through Friday and until noon on Saturday.

Weekend Travel

Loads with dimensions up to 85' long, 10' wide, 13'6ö high and weighing between 108,000 - 120,000 lbs. will be allowed continuous travel seven (7) days a week.  Loads with dimensions of 85' to 110' long, 10' to 14'4ö wide, 13'6ö to 15' high, and 108,000 - 120,000 lbs. in weight may travel one-half hour before sunrise until 12:00 noon on Saturday.  No Sunday travel is allowed for permitted loads.  Loads that are overweight only, with no dimensions, are permitted travel twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week.

Divisible Loads

Permitted loads must be reduced to the lowest possible form.  Divisible loads are allowed on toll roads with 15 mile access.  Carriers may obtain a permit for use on extra heavy extra duty highways.  Permits will be issued to haul steel coils in a limited area and with a specific trailer configuration.

Exceptions

Blades, buckets, etc. must be hauled separately.  Crated machinery and/or parts must be reduced if the crate adds any dimension to the load or crated loads.

Restricted Travel

Permitted loads with that are over 10' wide are restricted to daylight hours only.  Permitted vehicles are not to be operated during the existence of hazardous weather, road or traffic conditions, nor shall any movement proceed when visibility is less than 500'.  Oversized movement shall not be operated at any time when wind velocity exceeds 25 mph.

Toll road restrictions are as follows:  12' wide, 14'6ö high, and 127,400 lbs. gross weight.

Spring Weight Restrictions

There are no Seasonal Weight Restrictions for the State of Indiana.  However, the State of Indian does reserve the right to post any road as restricted during Spring Frost if they deem it necessary, although this is not common.

Superload Requirements

Loads or vehicles that are 110' long, 16' wide, 15' high, and 120,000 lbs. are considered Super-loads.  A route survey is no longer required for every super-load, but may be required upon specific request.  A traffic control letter may be required if the application has a slow down on an Interstate, which will require a Police Escort.  Drawings/Diagrams of cargo being shipped is only required if the load exceeds 17' high.  Super-load applications should be allowed two (2) weeks for processing and approval of application.
